Description

In Philosophy, we read and analyze contemporary scholarship on current bioethics issues. The topics of this course are loosely organized around new reproductive technologies and reproductive ethics, moral status, and issues raised by genetic technologies.

The course will require in-depth, focused reading of scholarship. Readings vary -- from those on the philosophical theoretical side, to those written by experts in sociology and law, and include some popular media articles. Class meetings are conducted seminar style, with a heavy emphasis on participation and discussion of the readings.
