Grades will be based on four papers of 2 to 3 pages (15% each) and a comprehensive final examination (40%). Papers will involve textual analysis on assigned topics. The final will consist of short-answer questions. Examinations must be taken, and papers turned in, at the scheduled times, unless prior authorization is given. Late papers will be penalized at the rate of one portion of a grade (e.g., A- to B+) per two working days late. Both papers and the final must be completed in order for the course to be passed.
