Courses

The Philosophy Department offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Course Numbering

Lower-division, courses, numbered 1 through 99, are introductory courses intended primarily for freshmen and sophomores. Upper-division courses, numbered 101 through 199, are more advanced and are intended primarily for juniors, seniors and graduate students. Graduate courses, numbered 201 through 299, are intended primarily for graduate students. They may be taken by undergraduates. To receive unit credit for these courses, students must petition with their college Dean's office.

Course Scheduling

The schedule for a given academic year is announced in the Winter quarter of the preceding academic year and is subject to change. Summer session schedules are announced in the Spring quarter immediately preceding the session.
